Summary
I finally settled on Textile Artists that would inspire me. I have chosen artists that I believe are inspirational, that have a love of teaching and sharing their knowledge. They all have very different styles and are influenced by very different themes, but all have a true desire to produce artwork with passion and purpose and to create an emotional response. Linking myself at this early stage of my art career to this group of illustrious ladies was a little difficult, but I do have a love of teaching and enjoy sharing my knowledge, I have run monthly workshops in the past albeit in paper crafting. I also want to be able produce artwork that creates an emotional response.
I have researched and collected information from many sources including books from the South Worcestershire College library, books from my own stash and many websites on the internet, (which are all referenced in the bibliography), to help build this website for my 'Dream Team'.
For the poster I have created a simple but effective design using a lovely photograph of a piece of work by Rosie James based on drawings by the artist by Albrecht Durer. To produce the poster I used the following website to assist me with the construction of the poster www.postermywall.com. The site was easy to use, it has a good selection of font choices, text boxes could be added, backgrounds could be changed and manipulated and it was easy to import images.
I scanned images into the website using an HP Photosmart printer, scanner face and copier and imported images of my sketched design ideas to the website.
The logo was created using Adobe Photoshop, from an initial pencil drawn design. I have very basic and limited skills with Photoshop, but I was able to create the 'cotton reel', but enlisted some 'help' with adding the 'thread and needle' to the final piece. I learnt about layers and switching them on and off, how to create curves etc. using the tools available within the package. I am pleased with simple black and white design and would happily use this on any future textile work.
The website has been produced using the free website builder Weebley.com and was simple and easy to use format. I was able to add pages for the artists, text boxes, image galleries add website links on buttons etc.
I have researched and reminded myself of good computer practice, and found a really useful link on the BBC website which you can find on the information page of this website.
